QxBxRx at Cake Shop Saturday May 2nd w/ The Younger Lovers, The Nymphettes and Toi Toi Toi

NEW YORK, NY – QxBxRx (Queers, Beers & Rears) returns to the Cake Shop on Saturday, May 2, 2009. This month we are Celebrating Cake Shop’s 4-Year Anniversary and welcome San Francisco queer punk band THE YOUNGER LOVERS featuring Brontez of Gravy Train!!!, THE NYMPHETTES from Canada, and local Brooklyn girl-punk band TOI, TOI, TOI (formerly Cutlass V). The QxBxRx Boys – GO-KARFF, SIR LOINS & A. MARTINI – will host and spin a mix of punk, rock, homocore, dancepunk, death disco, electro and more. The Cake Shop is located at 152 Ludlow in the Lower East Side. Doors at 10PM, 21+, $5 before 12am, $8 after. Tickets at the door.

THE YOUNGER LOVERS join QxBxRx all the way from their home in San Francisco. Brontez, mostly known as Junx in SF’s Gravy Train!!!, moved to California in the late 90s, playing in bands such as Panty Raid, The Social Lies, and The Manhandlers. He started the Younger Lovers’, and released the "Newest Romantic” LP and the "California Soul” EP. He currently lives and rocks out in sunny Oakland, CA where he retains the Younger Lovers as a "philandering" band project where he's backed by a bunch of rad musicians who like to play garage-pop-and rock n' roll jamz. Joining us from wayyy up North are THE NYMPHETTES, a three-piece pop-punk band that love playing live and listening to pop records. The band started in 2004, inspired by early punk rock as well as British pop music (and some total crap from North America). TOI, TOI, TOI (meaning “demon, demon, demon” in German) is Leslie Berns, Maureen Magic Fingers, Chris Peterson and Jenny Maurer. Our trashy Rock-n-Roll Gogo boys Max, Richert, and Israel will keep the party shakin’, and FREE DRINKS will be served from 11pm-12am, $5 beer plus a shot all night, and $1 beer from 2-3am.
